Ride901 would rather do a small number of things excellently than a large number of things approximately. Here is the sequence, and the rule we use to decide when to add the next thing.
The order of operations.
- Form and govern the organizationCharter, bylaws, conflict-of-interest policy, banking, and financial controls.
- Build an independent board and safety systemsDirectors with real expertise, background checks, insurance, and written safety standards.
- Launch a free Community Ride DayThe first public thing Ride901 does costs a family nothing. That is deliberate.
- Build the initial loaner bike and helmet fleetEquipment on the ground, maintained, and safety-checked before every event.
- Establish school and neighborhood partnersNamed partners with real relationships, not a mailing list.
- Launch the Memphis Mini PrixOnly when venue, insurance, staffing, permits, and registration are all in place.
- Expand through phase gatesEarn-a-bike, camps, schools, family and adventure riding, and youth leadership.
This roadmap is a plan, not a schedule. We publish dates on the events page only when they are confirmed.
New programs launch only when the existing program stack is safe, stable, repeatable, and adequately funded.
Enthusiasm is not a gate. Every expansion is a board decision made with the annual budget, not a reaction to a good weekend.
What we intend to measure.
Success is not trophies. It is kids riding again next weekend, families spending time together, and children becoming lifelong cyclists. These are the proxies we will report against.
